Wilmington, N.C. -- The CCU men's soccer team fell to the College of Charleston, 2-1, in the final day of action at the UNCW/Jameson Inn Classic Sunday Sept. 16, at the UNCW Soccer Stadium. Senior Kheli Dube (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe/Pumula (Lindsey Wilson)) and freshman Matt Schroeder (Parker, Colo./Ponderosa) were selected to the All-Tournament team.

Despite outshooting Charleston 8-7, the Chanticleers fell to 1-4-1 on the season, while the Cougars remain unbeaten at 6-0. With the victory, Charleston also claims the UNCW/Jameson Inn Classic title.   Two Cougar goals in the final 16 minutes of play propelled Charleston to the win. Dube netted the only goal of the first half off a cross from the right side by freshman Kelly Porter (Wichita, Kan./TrinityAcademy) in the 32nd minute. The goal was the first of the season for Dube.   The Chants held the lead until the 74th minute when a Zach Prince goal knotted the contest a 1-1. The game-winning goal came by way of an own goal in the 89th minute by CCU. Prince sent a low cross into the goalie box where a Chanticleer defender slid and knocked the ball into their own goal, moving the score to 2-1.   Redshirt freshman Philip Latham (Annandale, Va./Falls Church) recorded one save in 90 minutes between the posts for Coastal, while Corban Waller saved four shots for the Cougars.   The Chants return home after a four game road trip to host Cal State Fullerton Sunday, Sept. 23. Game time is set for 1 p.m., at the CCU Soccer Field.
