More Information:

WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina University men's soccer team was edged out by the Dayton Flyers 3-1 in game three of the UNCW/Courtyard by Marriott Soccer Classic this afternoon, Sun. Sept 14.

Coastal Carolina started the scoring off in the 8th minute, as Robert Hunter (Pawleys Island, S.C./Waccamaw (Furman)) sent a low cross inside the 18, finding the foot of James Stapleton (Barnsley, England/Shelley College (Potomac St.)). Stapleton took care of the rest, and found the back of the net to give the Chants the early 1-0 lead.

Dayton's Isaac Kissi evened up the score at 1-1 in the 36th minute, as he took a chip from Luke Baker for Dayton's first tally of the contest.

The Chants had another quality chance before the half in the 43rd minute, as forward Kelly Porter (Wichita, Kan. /Trinity Academy) hit the post on a shot, keeping the tally knotted at 1-1 heading into the intermission.

The contest remained knotted at 1-1 until the 85th minute, as the Flyer's Matt Albers sent a cross in off a corner kick that found the head of Jack Pearson. Pearson's header beat Chant goalkeeper Phillip Latham (Annandale, Va./Church Falls), to give Dayton the lead at 2-1.

The Flyers would add a late insurance goal, as Kissi would capitalize on a breakaway to give the Flyers the decisive 3-1 advantage.

Dayton would outshoot the Chants 16-to-6, as the Chants were able to muster only two shots on goal.

On the tournament, the Chants tied for second with Dayton, while Charlotte took first and the host UNC-Wilmington took fourth.
