Men's Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision to UNC Wilmington

Wilmington, N.C. -- The CCU men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to host UNC Wilmington in the opening day of action at the UNCW/Jameson Inn Classic Friday Sept. 14, at the UNCW Soccer Stadium. The Chanticleers were outshot 11-5 in the contest.

With the loss the Chants fall to 1-3-1 overall, while the Seahawks pickup their first win of the season improving to 1-2-1.   David Acosta scored the game’s only goal off a short pass behind the defense in the 32nd minute.   Senior Aaron Weant (Morrisville, N.C./Green Hope) recorded one save for CCU in the loss, while Brock Duckworth registered four saves between the posts for the Seahawks.   The Chants will face the College of Charleston during the final day of competition at the UNCW/Jameson Inn Classic, Sunday Sept. 16. Gametime is set for 1 p.m. at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.
