CONWAY - Goalkeeper Scott Angevine was named Big South Defensive Player of the Week and defender Cyprian Hedrick was named to the CollegeSoccerNews.com National team of the Week after winning the second straight tournament while improving to 4-1 on the year.

The Chanticleer defense only allowed one goal in over 193 minutes this past weekend against George Washington and No. 16 Virginia Commonwealth, while Hedrick was named tournament Defensive MVP. Angevine made 11 saves and recorded the first shutout of the year, moving him into fourth place in Coastal history with 12 career shutouts.

Coastal has received national attention from CollegeSportsNews.com and the NSCAA where they are receiving votes for the Top 25, coming in at No. 36 and No. 40 respectively. They have currently outscored the opposition 17-5 and are off to the best start since going 4-1 to open the 2006 campaign. The only loss of the season came against the 19th ranked 49ers of Charlotte, dropping a 2-1 decision in the season opener.

The Chants look to continue their stellar play this weekend when they play host to Appalachian State and No. 21 Ohio State in the Coastal Carolina Tournament. Play gets under way Friday at 5:00 as No. 21 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes will play Hartwick followed by Coastal taking on the Mountaineers from Appalachian State at 7:30.
