(Bulwayo, Zimbabwe-Chegutu (Lindsey Wilson)) scored his second hat trick of the season in leading Coastal Carolinas mens soccer team to the 6-2 victory over Louisville on Sunday Sept. 12 in the Furman/Diadora Invitational.The game did not begin well for Coastal as they were facing a 1-0 deficit within the first three minutes, when Louisvilles David Guzman scored on a header off a corner kick at 2:20 of the first half.
Coastal would quickly rally as Chisoni would score his first goal of the afternoon off the feed from juniors Jordan Hughes (Victoria, British Columbia-Spectrum) and Peter Louis (Dallas, Texas-Lake Highlands) less than a minute later to tie the game at one all at 3:19 in the first half.
The Chanticleers would score again at 19:24 of the first half when Chisoni beat the keeper for his second goal of the game from senior Itayi Pondwa (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe-Mpopma (Charleston Southern)) and sophomore defensemen Bobby Zimmer (Sugarland, Texas-Clements) to give CCU a 2-1 lead going into the half.
Shortly after the second half began Louisville would tie the game at two when Louisvilles Jelani Grant scored off the free kick at 48:18 of the second half.
CCU would untie the game when Hughes would take a pass from Boyzzz Khumalo (Soweto, South Africa-Bethlehem (Lindsey Wilson)) on the right side and beat the keeper to the corner from 12 yards out for 3-2 lead at 69:08 mark in the second half, a lead Coastal would not reliquish the rest of the game.
Khumalo would tally a goal of his own off the Joseph Kabwe (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe (Lindsey Wilson)) pass to increase the lead to 4-2 with just under 25 minutes remaining in the game (75:21).
Chisoni would get his third and final goal of the afternoon, and his eight of the season, off the feed from Khumalo with six minutes remaining in the game (84:00).
Hughes would score the sixth and final score for the Chantsl from Chisoni and Khumalo with less than five minutes remaining in the contest for the final 6-2 margin of victory.
Coastal outshoot Louisville 18-5 for the match and held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Coastal Carolina University will return home and take the pitch on Friday Sept. 17 with a contest against Wisconsin-Milwaukee at 7 p.m.
