Ashton Bennett Named Big South Attacking Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - (www.BigSouthSports.com) - Coastal Carolina men's soccer forward Ashton Bennett was named Big South Conference Choice Hotels Attacking Player of the Week for games Aug. 29-Sept 4, the League announced today.

Bennett, a junior from Claredon, Jamaica, totaled four goals, including a hat trick against Richmond, to lead Coastal to a 2-1 record last week. His first goal of the week came in the 83rd minute to fuel a Chanticleer come from behind win against Elon at the VCU Tournament on Sept. 2. Two days later against Richmond, Bennett scored three goals as the Chants topped the Spiders, 10-1. Bennett was named the VCU Tournament MVP and his play last week earned him a spot on the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week.

Michael Chesler of High Point was named the Defensive Player of the Week. The Chants return to the pitch on Friday, September 9 when they host George Washington at 7:30 pm in the second game of the Coastal Carolina University Invitational.
