Men's Soccer's Wolfgang Named Big South Player of the Week

Charlotte, N.C. -- Senior goalkeeper Jeremy Wolfgang (Reading, Pa./Wilson) has been selected as the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Soccer Player of the Week for games played Aug. 28-Sept. 3, it was announced today by the League office.

"This honor is indicative of how well we have been defending so far this season," head Coach Shaun Docking said. "Jeremy and our back four have been playing very well and we hope to continue that this weekend. Now a senior, Jeremy has stepped up and been a great leader on the field. I am very pleased with his dedication this season."

Wolfgang posted two shutouts as Coastal Carolina went 2-0 over the weekend at the Coastal Carolina/adidas Invitational. He started the tournament with two saves in the Chanticleers’ 2-0 win over Bowling Green on Sept. 1. Two days later against Richmond, Wolfgang notched three saves as CCU downed the Spiders, 1-0. For the tourney, he posted 180 minutes of shutout soccer and five saves for Coastal Carolina. On the season, he is 3-1 with 16 saves and two shutouts.

The Chanticleers will be on the road this weekend, taking on Stetson Friday Sept. 8 at 4:30 p.m. and Gardner-Webb Sunday Sept. 10 at 11:30 a.m. in the Furman/Diadora Invitational in Greenville, N.C.
