Men's Soccer Drops Niagara Falls Classic Contest to St. Francis (N.Y.), 1-0
More Information: BUFFALO, N.Y.- The Coastal Carolina University men's soccer team was defeated by the Saint Francis (N.Y.) Terriers, 1-0 this afternoon (Sept. 5) in the opening contest of the Niagara Falls Classic in Buffalo, N.Y.
The Chanticleers had an 8-5 shot advantage heading into the half, and held the St. Francis attack in check as the contest was knotted at 0-0 at the going into the second frame.
Saint Francis midfielder Semso Nikocevic broke the scoreless tie with the only goal of the contest in the 61st minute on a long distance shot that beat Coastal Carolina goalkeeper Phillip Latham (Annandale, Va./Falls Church).
Robert Hunter (Downingtown, Pa./Waccamaw (S.C.)(Furman) led the Chants with two shots on goal, while Ross Kelly (Sugar Land, Texas/Clements) and Riley Phelps (Charleston, S.C./Starrs Mill (Ga.)) each had a try on net.
The Chants will next be in action on Sun., Sept. 7 to take on the Oakland Grizzlies at 11 a.m. in game three of the Niagara Falls Classic.
