CONWAY, S.C.– The Coastal Carolina men’s soccer team (0-2) fell 3-2 to Saint Joseph's University (1-1) during the final day of competition at the CCU/adidas Invitational at the CCU Soccer Field. Junior Djamel Bekka (Tulsa, Okla./Union) and freshman Kelly Porter (Wichita, Kan./Trinity Academy) each netted goals for the Chanticleers. Colin Baker recorded all three goals for the Hawks. 

Both Bekka and Porter represented Coastal on the CCU/adidas All-Tournament Team. Furman University claimed the tournament championship after a 3-0 shutout against Florida Gulf Coast in the morning contest, Sept, 2. 

Porter registered the first goal of the contest in the 19th minute on a five yarder from redshirt sophomore Tim Shaw (Bowling Green, Ky./Greenwood) and senior Kevin Van Den Berg (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grandville). Baker evened the score in the 34th minute with a shot from the left side of the box from Michael McInaw. Bekka connected on his second goal of the season, unassisted from 15 yards to give the Chants a 2-1 advantage in the 34th minute.

SJU scored its final two goals within three minutes to secure the win. Baker's second goal came off assisted from Greg Dusing and Travis Gust in the 65th minute, while his final goal came off a header from McInaw and Dusing in the 67th minute. 

Senior Aaron Weant (Morrisville, N.C./Green Hope) picked up his first start of the season between the posts, recording two saves. Bryan Benedict totaled three saved for the Hawks.

Coastal will return to action at the Diadora/Spinx Furman Invitational, Sept 7-9 in Greenville S.C. CCU will face Jacksonville and Presbyterian.
