Men's Soccer Nationally Ranked in Preseason Polls

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men’s soccer team has earned spots on three national preseason polls. The Chants finished the 2002 season with a record of 19-3-2 and lost in the second round of the NCAA tournament to Clemson.

The SoccerTimes Top 25 Coaches Poll has the Chants at 24th in the nation, receiving 40 points overall. In the NSCAA/adidas poll, which tabbed Coastal as 25th at the end of last season, the squad is ranked 20th going into the 2003 season. Collegesoccernews.com also ranked Coastal as a top team in the nation, putting the Chants at 22nd, just one spot behind the team’s 21st ranking at the end of 2002.

The Chanticleers are one game into the 2003 season and stand at 1-0 after defeating UNC Greensoboro on Saturday, 1-0. Their next match is at home versus Davidson, Tuesday September 2 at 7 p.m.
