Men's Soccer Ranked In Two More Preseason Polls

The 2004 Coastal Carolina Men’s Soccer team will begin the year ranked in both the Soccer Times and the Soccer America Preseason Poll announced August 31st. Coastal will be ranked 19th in the Soccer Times Poll and 25th in the Soccer America Poll. CCU had previously been ranked 15th in the College Soccer News and 23rd in the NSCAA/adidas Preseason Polls, respectively.

The Coastal men’s program was a remarkable 20-3 and 6-1 in the Big South last season, while winning both the Big South regular season and conference tournament crowns. The Chanticleers defeated Davidson and North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament to advance into the Sweet 16.

On Saturday, the Chants outshot sixth-ranked University of North Carolina 22-6, but came up short when the final whistle was sounded as Coastal was defeated by the the Tar Heels in a close 1-0 exhibition match.

CCU will begin its regular season play with a home match against Anderson College September 1 at 7 p.m., at CCU Soccer Field.
