Men’s Soccer Ranked #23 in 2004 Preseason National Rankings of NSCAA/adidas

After posting a school record 20 wins last year, the 2004 Coastal Carolina Men’s Soccer team begins the year ranked 23rd in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Preseason Poll the organization announced.

Last season, the Coastal men’s soccer program had a season for the ages, going 20-3 and 6-1 in the Big South, while winning both the Big South regular season and conference tournament crowns. The Chanticleers then defeated Davidson and North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Sweet 16.

The Chants fell to the sixth-ranked University of North Carolina in a close 1-0 exhibition match over the weekend. The Chants outshot the Tar Heels 22-6 but just couldn’t find a way to the back of the net.

CCU will begin their regular season play with a home match against Anderson College on September 1 at 7 p.m. at CCU Soccer Stadium
