WINSTON-SALEM, NC The 24th-ranked Chanticleers got on the board first, but gave up two goals in the final 10 minutes to fall in an exhibition match at #4 Wake Forest, 2-1, Aug. 23.
Francis McCardle put Coastal up 1-0 in the 30th minute off a feed from Nick Deaville. CCU keeper Andy Paxton made it hold up until the 81st minute when Ryan Alexander knotted the game at one on assists from Jeremiah White and James Riley. White then got the game winner with just over three minutes to play on a feed from Justin Moose.
Coastal only managed four shots on goal, all in the first half, while Wake Forest posted 15 shots in the match.
Coastal will play Francis Marion at home, Mon., Aug. 25 at 7 p.m., in their final exhibition match before the regular season opener, Sat., Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. vs. UNC Greensboro at CCU Soccer Field.
