Chants Soccer Falls at Clemson in Second Exhibition

Clemson, S.C. - Coastal Carolina’s men’s soccer team took on another top-10 ranked team when they faced the Tigers of Clemson in a road exhibition match.

In another close match, the Chanticleers fell 3-1 to the fifth-ranked Tigers. In both early exhibition matches CCU and their opponent has been tied at the half. Against Clemson, neither team could get the ball into the back of the net and went into the half without a score.

That did not last long as Clemson came out in the second half and scored two goals to go up 2-0. Robbie Robinson and Diego Campos did the scoring.

CCU cut the lead in half with a goal off a corner kick from Carlos Becerra with just 12 minutes left in the match. David Raizes picked up the assist from the corner.

With the Chanticleers pushing in the final minutes to get a tying score, the Tigers’ Alexander Hemmingson was able to get in front of the net and head in the final goal for Clemson with just a couple of minutes left in the match.

Braulio Linares-Ortiz was in the goal for almost 62 minutes only allowing one goal during his time in front of the net.

CCU will have one remaining exhibition match left when they host Marshall Saturday, August 19 at 7 p.m.
