Men’s Soccer Picked Second in Big South Preseason Poll

     CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Chanticleer men’s soccer team has been chosen second in the Big South Conference’s annual preseason poll. The poll is voted by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors. The team received four first-place votes and 108 out of a possible 128 points from the panel.   Winthrop University received the most votes, nine, and 116 points to place them first in the poll. The league voted Winthrop’s junior forward, Saidi Issac, as the Big South Preseason Player of the Year.  Isaac finished the 2005 season as the Big South’s scoring leader and ranked fourth nationally with 1.95 points per game, totaling 39 points. He also tallied a League-high 17 goals on the season and finished tied for first with four game-winning goals.    The Chants will be back in action Monday Aug. 21., in an exhibition game against the South Carolina Gamecocks at 7 p.m. in Conway.     2006 Big South Predicted Order of Finish
