Men’s Soccer Picked to win Big South in Pre-Season Poll

For the fourth consecutive season, the Coastal Carolina University men’s soccer team is considered the favorite in Big South Conference preseason poll, the Big South Conference announced on August 17. The Chants captured 15 first place votes and 127 overall points. Last season the Chanticleers won a school single-season record 20 games and made its third consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament. In the tournament the Chants advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history. where they were defeated by Santa Clara 3-2, in overtime.

" It’s a nice honor but as all coaches know it’s means nothing, " said men’s soccer Head Coach Shaun Docking. " It’s the end of the season that counts. This conference is very deep and there are going to be some surprise teams that do very well."

The 2004 Big South Men’s Soccer Preseason Poll is voted on by the Conference’s Head Coaches and Sports Information Directors.
