United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll

Conway - The United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) preseason top-25 ranking has been released and the reigning Sun Belt Champions, Coastal Carolina University, enters the season ranked 19th in the preseason poll.

The Chanticleers completed the 2016 season (10-7-3/ 3-1-1 Sun Belt) receiving votes in the final poll of the season, and have used their end of the season run into the second round of the NCAA Championship to boost its preseason ranking this season.

CCU also had one of its best recruiting classes in recent memory to go along with the teams returning eight starters, including All-Sun Belt honorees Frantzdy Pierrot, Martin Melchor and Braulio Linares-Ortiz.

The Chanticleers also have a loaded 2017 schedule that features four teams that also appear on the preseason top-25. CCU will face North Carolina (4th), Clemson (5th), Maryland (6th) and Charlotte (15th).

CCU begins preparations for its upcoming season when they report to camp August 8.

The Chants will open the season at North Carolina for an exhibition match on Aug. 13. The first regular season game is set for Aug. 25 when CCU travels to George Mason. The Chants first home match of the season will be Friday, Sept. 1 against UNC Greensboro. Match time is set for 7:30 p.m.
