Men's Soccer Alum Ngwenya Currently in a Tryout with German Soccer Power Bayern Munich

CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina University men’s soccer alum Joseph Ngwenya is currently on a tryout with German soccer power Bayern Munich. Ngweyna will be in camp with the team for three weeks in Munich.   Ngwenya played for SK Austria Karnten of the Austrian Football Bundesliga during the 2007-08 season. Prior to that, he played for the Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer, helping the club to the 2007 MLS Cup and earning the 2007 Houston Dynamo Budweiser Golden Boot award to the player with the most goals during the MLS regular season.   Ngwenya played in World Cup qualifier matches for Zimbabwe this past summer, playing in games against Guinea and Kenya.   Bayern Munich won the German Bundesliga and the German Cup last season and was a semifinalist in the UEFA Cup in 2008. The club is coached by German soccer legend Jurgen Klinsman.   The Bulawayo, Zimbabwe native was the third overall pick in the MLS SuperDraft by Los Angeles in 2003. He led CCU to three NCAA Tournament appearances and two Big South Conference titles. Ngwenya holds eight Coastal individual season and career records, including career goals and points, while also being a finalist for National Player of the Year as a senior.
