Men's Soccer Announces 2008 Schedule

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University men’s soccer program and head coach Shaun Docking have announced its 2008 schedule today (July 7). Nine home matches, a home in-season tournament and the Big South Conference Tournament hosts highlight the schedule.   After home exhibition games at Campbell (Aug. 18) and at home against Elon (Aug. 24), the Chanticleers open the regular season August 29-30 by hosting the Coastal Carolina/adidas Invitational at the Coastal Carolina Soccer Field. Coastal Carolina hosts Florida Atlantic Friday, August 29 at 7 p.m., and Longwood Saturday, August 30 at 7 p.m. Coastal Carolina will then play in tournaments in Buffalo, N.Y., and Wilmington, N.C. The Chants play St. Francis and Oakland at the Niagara University Tournament Sept. 5-6 and play Charlotte and Dayton at the UNCW/Jameson Inn Soccer Classic Sept. 12 and 14.   Coastal Carolina returns home for two matches against Virginia Commonwealth (Sept. 21) and UNC Wilmington (Sept. 24) before embarking on a three-game road trip to open conference play. The Chanticleers open Big South play at VMI Sunday, Sept. 28 at 12:30 p.m. Coastal Carolina is at Liberty Saturday, Oct. 4 at 1 p.m. and faces new Big South member Gardner-Webb Wednesday, Oct. 8.    Coastal Carolina ends the regular season with five of its last seven matches at home. That includes home matches in conference against High Point (Oct. 19), UNC Asheville (Oct. 22), Presbyterian (Oct. 29) and Winthrop (Nov. 5). Coastal ends the regular season Nov. 8 at North Florida.   The Chanticleers host the 2008 Big South Conference Men’s Soccer Championships Nov. 13-16. It is the first time Coastal Carolina has hosted the championships since the 1999 season.   Coastal is coming off a 10-8-1 season that included a perfect 6-0 Big South Conference slate.
