RICHMOND, Va. – The Coastal Carolina men’s soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss to Old Dominion Saturday afternoon in the Richmond Marriott Classic from Sports Backers Stadium.
The Monarchs collected the only goal of the game in the 68th minute when Chris Harmon scored on a penalty kick following a Coastal foul inside the Chanticleer box.
Despite the goal, Coastal junior keeper Scott Angevine recorded three saves.
The Chanticleers put a pair of shots on goal in the first half on strikes from Pedro Ribeiro and Luis Faz. Ribeiro’s shot in the fifth minute was saved by ODU keeper Evan Newton, while Faz had his attempt blocked by a Monarch defender in the 18th minute.
The Coastal defense limited Old Dominion to just three shots in the second half, but the Chanticleer offense was unable to net the equalizing goal.
Coastal returns to action Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. when the Chanticleers take on tournament host VCU.
