No. 21 Chanticleers Down NC State 6-1 in Exhibition Match
CONWAY - The 21st-ranked Coastal Carolina University men's soccer team defeated NC State 6-1 in an exhibition match Monday morning at the CCU Soccer Stadium.
Four different Chanticleers found the back of the net as Coastal scored once in the first half and five times in the second 45 minutes.
In the 12th minute of play NC State's Simon Blotko scored the match's opening goal. A Wolfpack corner was punched out by CCU's Alexandre Bouillennec, but not cleared from the six-yard box. Blotko connected on the bouncing ball and placed it into the back of the net for a 1-nil NC State advantage.
In the 33rd minute Coastal leveled the match off the foot of Robin Bjornholm-Jatta. After a flurry of Wolfpack activity in the Coastal 18-yard box, the ball was cleared and corralled by Ryan Reid. After a few touches, Reid played a long ball to Bjornholm-Jatta, who beat his defender then chipped the keeper for the goal.
Four minutes into the second half Bjornholm-Jattta struck for his second goal of the match. This time the Norwegian intercepted a wayward Wolfpack pass near the 18-yard box and immediately hammered a one-timer into the right side-netting, providing Coastal a 2-1 lead.
Frantzdy Pierrot made it 3-1 in Coastal's favor with a goal from 14-yards out. He caused a turnover in the NC State defensive third and beat the keeper to the right side of the netting.
