Men's Golf Finishes 11th at CordeValle Collegiate

SAN MARTIN, CALIF. -- In the unique play-six, count-five event, the Coastal Carolina University men's golf team struggled for the second straight round, finishing 11th at the CordeValle Collegiate, Nov. 3-5. The three-day, 54-hole tournament, hosted by Santa Clara University, is being played at the CordeValle Resort Club (Par 72 - 7,119 yards) in San Martin, Calif.

The No. 40 Chanticleers again could not get a rhythm going, as a team, and shot 387 on the final 18 and finish at 1143 in 11th. No. 4 Southern California won the team title by 26 shots at even-par 1080, with No. 11 Stanford in second at 1106. No. 39 UCLA finished in third, one shot behind Stanford.

Junior Dan Obremski posted his second straight top-10 finish of the fall, tying for 10th at 2-over 218. Redshirt senior Zack Byrd was next in a tie for 37th at 228, with senior Cameron Hooper tying for 51st at 231. The Coastal Carolina scoring was rounded out by junior Sam Lyons (235, t-64th), sophomore David Dannelly (236, t-67th) and sophomore Tripp McAllister (241, t-71st).

The Chants have concluded their fall schedule and will next be on the course Mon.-Tue., Feb. 2-3, 2009, at the Arizona Invitational in Tucson, Ariz.
