Men's Golf In Third After Two Rounds of Club Glove Intercollegiate

SOMIS, CA - Coastal Carolina men's golf team is tied for third after the first two rounds of the Club Glove Intercollegiate, hosted by Pepperdine University, Oct. 11-12. The 54-hole tournament is being contested at the Saticoy Country Club (Par 72 - 6,858 yards) in Somis, CA.

The Chanticleers fired a 288 in the opening round and then came back with a 291 in the afternoon for a 36-hole total of 579, tying them with SMU. Host Pepperdine leads the event at three-under 573, while #10 Arizona State is in in second at 576. Coastal is well ahead of #19 Texas Tech (591), #11 Kent State (594) and #36 Houston (606).

Michael Putnam of Pepperdine leads the individual race with a seven-under 137. Coastal is led by Dustin Johnson and Jeremy Kirkland, who each posted an even par 144 through 36 holes, with Johnson firing a 68 in the second round of the tournament. Moises Cobo is tied for 13th at 145, while Zack Byrd is at 146, good for a tie for 18th.

The final round of the event will be played, Tue., Oct. 12.
