SOMIS, CALIF. -- Coastal Carolina's men's golf team struggled in the final round to finish sixth at the Club Glove Intercollegiate, Oct. 3-4. The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Pepperdine University, was played at the Saticoy Country Club (Par 72 - 6,985 yards) in Somis, Calif.
Playing a challenging course with tough pin placements in difficult winds, Coastal posted a final round score of 326 and fell three spots to finish in sixth at 933. San Diego State took home the team title with a score of 893, finishing 16 shots ahead of runner-up Pepperdine.
Coastal is led by junior Dustin Johnson, who tied for 16th at 232, while junior Moises Cobo fired a team-best 79 in the final round and tied for 22nd at 233.
The defending Big South Conference champion Chanticleers are next in action at the Duke Golf Classic, Sun.-Mon, Oct. 9-10. The 54-hole event will be played at the Duke University Golf Course in Durham, N.C.
