BLYTHEWOOD - Rising Coastal Carolina junior Drew Ernst (Seneca) owns a one-stroke lead at the 2010 South Carolina Amateur Championship, played at Columbia Country Club.

Ernst fired a 10-under 68-64 on Saturday to lead Wesley Bryan (Chapin/Univ. of South Carolina) by one and McCuen Elmore (Cheraw/Clemson) by five. Coastal Carolina teammate Tripp McAllister, a rising senior from Lake City, is tied for eighth as he shot a one-under 141.

Ernst's 64 was a career low, bettering his previous best of 68. He is coming off a sophomore season at Coastal which he ranked second on the team with a season scoring average of 74.47. As a fresham, Ernst was tabbed All-Big South Conference, placing fourth at the league championship.

McAllister is a two-time All-Big South honoree, accomplishing a conference first when he was named both Big South Conference Player and Freshman of the Year in 2008.
