Men's Golf's Johnson Ties For Eighth in Medal Play at Western Amateur
BENTON HARBOR, MICH. - Fresh off winning the USGA Sectional in Battle Creek, Mich. to advance to the upcoming U.S. Amateur, Coastal Carolina men's golfer Dustin Johnson tied for eighth in medal play at the Western Amateur, Aug. 1-3. The tournament is being played at Point O'Woods Golf and Country Club in Benton Harbor, Mich.
After opening with a four-under 66 and following it up with a two-over 72 to sit at 138 through 36 holes and make the first cut, Johnson shot one-over 71 in the first round on Friday but rebounded to a two-under 68 in the last round to secure his place in the "Sweet 16" match play at the Western. Johnson will take on Mark Harrell of Hazelhurst, Ga. in the first match of the day, with the tournament's champion to be decided on Sunday, as two 18-hole matches will be played on Saturday and Sunday.
