Renolds, Byrd Have Solid Starts to the U.S. Amateur Public Links

    Lindsay Renolds (Hilton Head, S.C./Heritage Academy) and Zack Byrd (Calabash, N.C./Byrd Academy) are off to a solid start in the 81st United States Amateur Public Links Championship at the Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash.  Renolds is tied for sixth place with a two-under 70, while Byrd is tied for 28th with a one-over 73.

Renolds had three birdies, all on par-5's, and only one bogey to tie for sixth place.  He is only three shots behind Mitch Cohlmia of Tulsa, Okla., who shot a five-under 67 in the opening round.  The top-64 players after Tuesday's round advance to match play in the USAPL.

Byrd had two birdies, including the par-4 18th hole, and three bogeys on the day.  Byrd is looking to advance to match play for the second straight year in the Amateur Public Links.

Byrd will tee off at 7:50 a.m. PDT on Tuesday, while Renolds tees off at 1 p.m. PDT off the 10th tee.
