BRIDGEPORT, W.VA. -- Former Coastal Carolina golfer Tom Gillis shot a 70 in the final round and won the Nationwide Tour Players cup by three strokes, June 25-28. The tournament was played at the Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, W.Va.
Gillis entered the final round with a one-shot advantage and stretched it to as much as five before getting his first victory of the year. Gillis shot a 15-under 273 to collect a $108,000 paycheck, with the win also vaulting him to No. 10 on the money list. The top 25 automatically earn their PGA Tour card for the following season.
