Men's Golf's Johnson Tied For Lead After First Round of Sahalee Players Championship

SAMMAMISH, WASH -- Coastal Carolina's Dustin Johnson (Lexington, S.C./Dutch Fork) shot a three-under 69 and is in a three-way tie for the lead after the opening round of the 13th Sahalee Players Championship. The 72-hole tournament is being played at the Sahalle Country Club in Sammamish, Wash.

Johnson, the 2005 Big South Conference Player of the Year and 2005 NCAA East Regional champion, put together three birdies and an eagle on the first nine holes for a 5-under par 31. His only bogey came on hole #10, when he made a double bogey six on the 397 yard, par 4. He will start the second round tied with Craig Doell from British Columbia, and Kevin Chappell, a UCLA golfer from Fresno, Calif., who also carded rounds of 3-under par 69.

There will be 36 holes played today, with the final 18 holes contested on Friday.
