CONWAY - Coastal Carolina University head men's golf coach Allen Terrell announced today the signing Eli Mattioli, a three-time 7A All-State selection, from Fayetteville, Ark., and product of Fayetteville HS.

Mattioli, who attended Montverde (Fla.) Academy during his senior golf season, played in five events on the Future Collegians World Tour, making the cut all five times and placing no lower than 16th as he was named FCWT thrid team All-American. He won the Eagle Creek (Orlando, Fla.) Challenge with a two-day score of 10-under, 136 (69-67), while tying for seventh at the TPC Tampa Bay Challenge (76-71=147).

"Eli is an incredible athlete who has shown the ability to win at the national level," Terrell said. "He has all the needed tools to be a great CCU golfer. Eli has shown the talent to shoot some very low competitive scores. As he continues to improve his consistency, Eli will develop into a world class golfer. He has exactly what I love to coach; strong work ethic, great size (6-1, 185), great strength and a lot of speed."

Mattioli posted a tournament scoring average of 75.2 over 40 rounds in 2009. He was the first alternate from Arkansas for the US Jr. Amateur, finishing third out of 34, and qualified to play in the Optimist International Jr. Championship as well as The Trusted Choice Big I National thanks to a wire to wire win with a score of 140 (-4) at Ridge Pointe CC in Jonesboro, Ark.

He is fully exempt on the AJGA after tying for fifth at the Elbit Systems of America Junior Golf Classic. In the summer of 2009, Mattioli competed on International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) and represented the USA as a member of IJGT Euro Cup (2008 at St. Andrews in Scotland) and North America Cup (2009 at Toronto) teams.

Mattioli was earned All-State honors as a freshman, sophomore and junior. In 2008 - as a junior - he helped the Fayetteville Bulldogs place third at the state championship as he finished sixth individually.
