Men's Golf NCAA Championship Diary #2

Yesterday was our final practice round and we had an early start. We teed off around 8:30. It was good to play in the morning to get used to all the wet rough and fairways since we had an early first-round tee time. The course was playing a little harder and faster in the round which was expected with the lack of rain. The Tournament Committee is trying to get the greens as firm and fast as possible.

Once we got done, we hit balls on the range and worked on our short games for awhile for one last tune up before the First Round. Last night, we had the players dinner at Loyola College.

Today, we had a 5:00 AM wake up call for the first round. We got to the course around 6:30 to warm up our first tee time was 7:45. We were all really loose and ready to go. We had a decent start on the front side, the harder of the two. We turned at +4 and shot even par on the back to shoot 284. Dustin played really well and made a 35 footer on 18 for birdie to cap off our first round. We got done and had a quick lunch before we practiced and worked on some things for tomorrow's round.

This was a very memorable experience today for all of us knowing we are the first team from Coastal to compete for a National Championship.
