CHATTANOOGA, TENN. - Coastal Carolina University's men's golf team is in 21st through two rounds of the NCAA East Regional, May. 17. The three-day, 54-hole regional is being played at Council Fire Golf Club (Par 71 - 6,961 yards) in Chattanooga, Tenn., May 16-18.
Playing in the afternoon wave, the Chanticleers shot a 7-over 291 as a team in the second round and posted 8-over 576 through the first 36 holes. No. 1 Georgia is the 36-hole with a 32-under 536, 19 shots ahead of Augusta State in second. The top 10 teams and three individuals not on those squads advance to the NCAA Championships May 28-31, 2008 at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex-The Kampen Course in West Lafayette, Indiana and will be hosted by Purdue University.
Freshman Tripp McAllister leads the CCU effort at 2-under 140, good for a tie for 25th, after a 2-over 73 in the second round. Sophomore Dan Obremski had the best round of the day for CCU with a 1-over 72. UAB's Zach Sucher is the 36-hole leader at 11-under 131.
The Chanticleers will play their final round starting at 12:12 p.m. going off the No. 10 tee with Colorado State and North Carolina State.
