Andrew Dorn Wins U.S. Open Local Qualifier

CINCINNATI - Andrew Dorn, a junior on the men's golf team, shot a course-record 66 Monday at Cincinnati's Maketewa Country Club to win a local qualifier for the 2014 U.S. Open.
Dorn, who will be competing with teammate Ben Wheelerat the NCAA Raleigh Regional this weekend (May 15-17), will now play in a 36-hole sectional qualifier in Columbus, Ohio, June 2 in hopes of qualifying for the 2014 U.S. Open, held June 12-15 at historic Pinehurst No. 2.
Dorn was part of a record 10,000 golfers that attempted to qualify for this year's U.S. Open.
Dorn has had an impressive 12 months of golf. He was All-Big South in 2013 and 2014, helped Coastal advance to the 2013 NCAA Championship, won the North-South Amateur, won the Ohio Amateur and won the 2014 General Hackler Championship.
His victory at the North-South Amateur came at Pinehurst No.2 and he has his own locker along with all the other winners at the facility.
