2010-11 Coastal Carolina Men's Golf Statistics/Results
GREENWOOD - Coastal Carolina sophomore men's golfer Sebastian Soderberg was voted both All-Big South by the league's coaches and Academic All-Big South by the league's sports information directors. The announcement was made at the annual banquet prior to the Big South Men's Golf Championships, held April 18-20 at The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor in Ninety-Six.
Soderberg receives his second All-Big South honor. Last season, he placed fourth at the Big South Championships to earn a spot on the team. This season, Soderberg led Coastal Carolina with a 74.0 scoring average and was the team's top finisher in six of 10 events, getting two top 10 finishes. Of his 30 rounds in 2010-11, nine were par or better.
Soderberg opened the season with a runner-up at the Kiawah Invitational, shooting a one-over par 217 at the Ocean Course. The next time out, he also shot 214 (one over par) to tie for 10th at the Windon Memorial. Soderberg opened the spring portion of the schedule with a five-over 215, tying for 11th, at Florida's SunTrust Gator Invitational. He followed that with two more top 20 finishes, tying for 17th with a four-over 220 at the John Hayt Collegiate and tied for 13th with a seven-ver 223 at Coastal's General Hackler Championship.
While excelling on the course, Soderberg also excells in the classroom, posting a 3.456 cumulative GPA in Exercise Science to earn Academic All-Big South honors as well.
Soderberg, along with junior Charlie Winegardner, junior Drew Ernst, freshman Roberto Ballesteros and redshirt junior Tripp McAllister will look to give the Chanticleers their eighth consecutive conference championship. Winegardner was All-Big South in 2010, placing eighth at the championship. Ernst was All-Big South in 2009, placing fourth at the championship. McAllister is a two-time All-Big South honoree, being the 2008 conference Player and Freshman of the Year.
