2012 Big South Men's Golf Championships Live Scoring Link

NINETY SIX, S.C. - For the third consecutive year, Coastal Carolina junior Sebastian Soderberg has earned All-Big South honors, while the league's sports information director's voted Soderberg to the Big South All-Academic team for the second consecutive year.

These honors were announced Sunday night on the eve of the annual Big South Men's Golf Championships, played once again at The Patriot Club at Grand Harbor. The teams will play 18 holes each on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with the winner earning the league's automatic berth to an NCAA Regional.

Coastal Carolina has won 13 Big South Men's Golf Championships, including seven straight from 2004-10, and has had eight individual medalists.

Soderberg (Ojersjo, Sweden) is one of five players voted to the All-Big South team by the league coaches. He was also voted to the team in 2011 (as a sophomore) and earned a spot on the team in 2010 (freshman season) as he tied for fourth at the league championship. Soderberg placed seventh at the Big South Championship last season. Soderberg is not the only Chanticleer to have earned All-Big South honors playing this week. Senior Charlie Winegardner placed eighth at the 2010 Big South Championships to earn all-conference honors.

Soderberg is just one of 26 players in Big South history to be a three-time All-Big South honoree and joins Chanticleers Dustin Johnson (four-time honoree), Zach Byrd, Lindsay Renolds, John McAllister, Scott Taylor, Trevor Gliwski, Wil Weldon, Julian James and Brad Hastings (four-time honoree).

The remaining All-Conference members will consist of the top five finishers (and any additional ties) in this week's Championship not among those already named to the team. Those honorees, as well as the Big South Golfer of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year, will be announced following Wednesday's final round.

Soderberg ranks in the Conference's top 10 with a 73.13 stroke average and was Coastal's top finisher in seven events this season. He had four wins over Top 25 opponents and was the individual medalist at the Furman Intercollegiate. Soderberg had eight under-par rounds and finished three tournaments in red numbers. Ranked No. 150 nationally and playing the toughest schedule in the Big South, Soderberg was a two-time Big South Golfer of the Week selection this season.

In the classroom, Soderberg owns a 3.326 GPA in exercise science.
