Currently ranked 14th by GolfWeek, Byrd posted his fourth runner-up finish and sixth top-20 standing of the year with a 15-under par 201 at the Desert Shootout (par 72, 7,015 yards). He shot a school-record 9-under 63 in the final round to move up to tie for second with Tulsa’s Nicolas Geyger, and carded scores of 69-69-63 in the 54-hole event. Byrd’s three-round total of 201 ties for the second-best 54-hole score in school history. He is also 20-under par this spring through five events.
Coastal Carolina returns to the course Saturday-Sunday, April 4-5 at the Administaff/Augusta State Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.
