Men's Golf Slips To 12th After Second Round of United States Collegiate Championship

ALPHARETTA, GA. -- With much improved weather conditions, Coastal Carolina's men's golf team couldn't take advantage of it and slipped three spots to 12th through 36 holes of the United States Collegiate Championship, Mar. 25. The three-day, 54-hole tournamen is being played at The Golf Club of Georgia (Par 72 - 7,017 yards) in Alpharetta, Ga.
With an improved weather conditions with a high in the 60s and calmer winds, the scores overall improved. However, the Chanticleers dipped to 306 in the second round for a 36-hole total of 32-over 608 to drop to 12th. Fifth-ranked Southern California fired the best round of the tournament with a 1-under 287 to take over the top spot at 5-over 581, two shots ahead of top-ranked Alabama in second at 583. No. 6 Oklahoma State and No. 7 Georgia Tech are tied for third at 10-over 586, as the top five teams are separated by just seven shots.
CCU was led by freshman Tripp McAllister, who shot a 2-over 74 in the second round and is tied for 17th at 3-over 147. Sophomore Dan Obremski is next for the Chants at 8-over 152, good for a tie for 35th. Oklahoma State's Trent Leon is the individual leader at 4-under 168, two shots better than Cameron Tringale of Georgia Tech at 140.
The final round is scheduled to start at 9 a.m., with the Chanticleers playing with Charlotte and Georgia going off No. 10 tee beginning at 9:30 a.m.
