AWENDAW, S.C. -- The Coastal Carolina men's golf squad is in fifth after the first 18 holes of the Hootie at the Bay Intercollegiate Golf Tournament presented by Club Car, Mar. 25. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being played at Bulls Bay Golf Club (Par 71-7,014 yards) in Awendaw, S.C.
Coastal rallied late in its first round to finish at one-over 285 in fifth place. UCF jumped out with four players under par to take the lead at 14-under, while Florida State is in second place four shots behind. Baylor and Wake Forest are tied for third at one-under 283.
The Chants are led by junior Zack Byrd (Calabash, N.C./Byrd Academy) with a two-under 69, good for a tie for eighth, while senior All-American Dustin Johnson (Myrtle Beach, S.C./Dutch Fork) is tied for 11th at one-under 70. Senior Moises Cobo (Seville, Spain/Pendleton School (Fla.)) was even par through the first round, currently in a tie for 19th.
The second round will take place Mar. 25, with CCU starting to go off No. 1 at 9:40 a.m.
