Men's Golfer Byrd Named Big South Golfer of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Coastal Carolina junior Zack Byrd (Calabash, N.C./Byrd Academy) has been selected as the Big South Choice Hotel Men’s Golfer of the Week, it was announced today by the League office. This is the second time this year that the junior has earned the league's weekly honor.

 

Byrd fired a 5-under 211 (73-71-67) to finish in a tie for fourth and led a surging Coastal squad from 13 shots behind then second-place Southern California to overtake the Trojans for runner-up honors at the General Jim Hackler Championship sponsored by Chanticleer Holdings.  Entering the final round, Byrd was even par but posted six birdies and just one bogey for a five-under 67, just one shot off his career best single round.  The 211 total was the second-lowest 54-hole score of his career.

Coastal Carolina returns to the course Sun.-Tue., Mar. 25-27 at the Hootie/Bulls Bay Invitational. The tournament will be played at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
