CONWAY - Coastal Carolina junior Andrew Dorn (West Chester, Ohio) has been named the Big South Choice Hotels Men's Golfer of Week, it was announced today by the Conference office.

Dorn claimed his first collegiate win as he shared medalist honors at the General Hackler Championship (par 72, 6,950 yards) this past Monday and Tuesday with an even-par 216 (73-71-72). He becomes the first Chanticleer to win the program's own tournament in the event's 13-year history, and he led the field with 14 birdies over the 54 holes. With a 1-under 71 in round two and an even-par round of 72 Tuesday, Dorn has shot par or better in 11 of his 24 rounds this season.

The victory moved him to No. 93 in Golfweek's world amateur rankings and 54th in the U.S. Dorn shared the title with Kent State's Corey Conners, who is ranked second in the world amateur rankings by Golfweek. Dorn also defeated Kent State's Taylor Pendrith, who is ranked 69th in the nation by GolfStat.com.

This is the second time Dorn has earned the Big South weekly honor. This past fall, he shot a career-low 209 over 54 holes and placed sixth at the ETSU Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate.

Dorn, who has been Coastal's top scorer in each of the team's last three events, and the Chanticleers return to action this weekend (Mar. 14-16) at the Seminole Intercollegiate Invitational, hosted by Florida State at Tallahassee's Southwood Golf Club.
