Men's Golf In Sixth During Second Round of Ashworth Invitational

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CALIF. -- The Coastal Carolina men's golf team sits in sixth midway through the second round of the Ashworth Invitational, hosted by Southern California, Feb. 27. The second round was suspended due to rain and excess water on the course. The tournament is being played at North Ranch Country Club (Par 71 - 6,742 yards) in Westlake Village, Calif.

The Chanticleers were in seventh after the opening round 291, eight-over par for the first 18 holes. CCU is just two over in the second 18, moving up one place to close the gap at 10-over par. Washington currently leads at one-over par, while Pepperdine is in second at +3.

Sophomore Zack Byrd leads the Coastal contingent, currently tied for second at two-under par. Byrd fired a three-under 68 in the opening round, tying for second after 18 holes. Junior Moises Cobo is currently tied for 19th at three-over, while junior Dustin Johnson is tied for 26th at four-over.

The second round will resume, weather permitting, at 7:30 a.m. PST, Tue., Feb. 28, with the final round contested immediately following.
