GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Coastal Carolina men's golf team will open the second half of its 2010-11 schedule, and first event of 2011, this weekend (Feb. 12-13) at the annual SunTrust Gator Invitational at the University of Florida's Mark Bostick Golf Course.
Host Florida, currently ranked third in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, will host a field 14, including #8 LSU, #10 Auburn, #33 Central Florida, #40 North Florida, #59 Florida State, #63 Ole Miss, #68 Coastal Carolina, #77 Lamar and #97 Mississippi State, as well as UAB, Georgia State, Georgia Southern and Jacksonville.
The team will play 36 holes on Saturday and a final 18 holes on Sunday.
"We have had an usual January in terms of the weather," said Director of Golf Allen Terrell. "I'm not real sure of my lineup yet and will need our practice round down there to settle the squad. I have confidence in this group and feel they can be special. I just hope it is sooner rather than later."
