Men's Golf In Fifth After 36 Holes of SunTrust Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, FLA. --  The Coastal Carolina men's golf team was tied for eighth after the first round but moved up three slots to fifth after 36 holes of the 2007 SunTrust Gator Invitational, Feb. 10. The 54-hole event is being played at the University of Florida Golf Course (Par 70 - 6,701 Yards) in Gainesville, Fla., Feb. 10-11.

Coastal shot 10-over 290 in the first round but trimmed that total by six shots in the second 18, finishing the first two rounds with a total of 574, just six shots out of the lead. Wake Forest and Florida were tied at even par going into the second round, with the Demon Deacons taking a one-shot lead at 568, with the host Gators in second at 569 and Georgia Southern in third at 570.

Junior Zack Byrd led the Chanticleers, firing a 67 in the second round with five birdies and only two bogeys and was tied for third at 138. Seniors Dustin Johnson and Moises Cobo are tied for 25th at four-over 144.

The final round will be played tomorrow, Sun., Feb. 11.
