Men's Golf Tied For Eighth After Two Rounds Of Suntrust Gator Invitational
GAINESVILLE, FLA. -- Coastal Carolina men's golf is tied for eighth through 36 holes of the 2008 SunTrust Gator Invitational, Feb. 9. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is the spring opener for the Chanticleers and is being played at the Mark Bostick Golf Course (Par 70 - 6,701 yards) at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla.
The Chanticleers were consistent, firing three-over 283 in each round played Saturday, finishing at 6-over 566 and sitting in a tie with Wake Forest. Host Florida is at 18-under 542, 12 shots ahead of Florida State in second place at 554. UAB is in third at 556.
Coastal, playing with one junior, two sophomores and two freshmen in the lineup, is led by freshman Tripp McAllister, who is tied for sixth at 4-under 136 after a pair of 2-under 68s. Junior Cameron Hooper is next for the Chants at 1-over 141 after a 73 in the opening round but rallying with a 2-under 68 in the second 18. Andrew Loupe of LSU is leading individually at 7-under 133, one shot ahead of Jonas Blixt of Florida State and Billy Horschel of Florida.
The tournament wraps up on Sunday, Feb. 10, with the Chants going off No. 1 starting at 8 am with Wake Forest and South Alabama.
