Luis Ruiz Makes Cut at Latin America Amateur
SANTIAGO, Chile - Luis Ruiz, a junior on the Coastal Carolina men's golf team, stands in a tie for 25th and made the cut for the final two rounds at the 2018 Latin America Amateur, played at the Prince of Wales Country Club.
Ruiz, representing his native Mexico, shot an opening-round, 1-over par 71 on Saturday, while posting a 2-over par 73 on Sunday for a two-day total of 145. Jaime Lopez Rivarola of Argentina leads the field after carding rounds of 69-68 for a 36-hole total of 137 (5-under par).
The Latin America Amateur continues with 18 holes on Monday and will conclude with 18 final holes on Tuesday. The winner of the event will earn an invitation to play in the 2018 Masters as well as receive exemptions into the final stages of qualifying for The Open and U.S. Open in 2018.
