MYRTLE BEACH - Coastal Carolina freshman Olle Widegren carded a second-round 69, which tied for the low round of the day, to move up 10 spots and finished tied for second in his collegiate debut, shooting 72-69 for a 3-under par 141 at the Myrtle Beach National Invitational. The two-day event was hosted by Gardner-Webb at Myrtle Beach National's par 72 West Course.
Appalachian State's Casey Komline won the 44-player event with a 4-uncrer par 140 (69-71). Joining Widegren as runners-up were Gardner-Webb's Elki Kow (71-70=141), Presbyterian's David Parker (71-70=141) and Southern Wesleyan's Zachary Casto (71-70=141).
Redshirt freshman Josh Pisarri, also making his collegiate debut, and junior Roberto Ballesteros, who is coming off an injury sustained this past summer, tied for 25th. Pisarri, who was 25th after the first round, shot a 74 on both days for a 4-over par 148. Ballesteros moved up nine spots into a tie for 25th after a second-round of even par for his two-round total of 148.
The Coastal Carolina men's golf team will return to action Oct. 5-6 at LSU's David Toms Collegiate.
