FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Coastal Carolina University men’s golf team sits in second through 36 holes of 2009's The McLaughlin, Sept. 18. The two-day, 54-hole tournament, being hosted by St. John's University, is being played at the Bethpage Park Red Course (Par 70 - 6,734 yards) in Farmingdale, N.Y.

Coastal Carolina posted an even-par 280 in the first round, which put the Chanticleers in a tie for fourth with Harvard, five shots behind UNC Wilmington. The Chants then put together the top afternoon round with a 3-under 277 and move into a tie for second at 3-under 577 with Towson, one shot behind UNC Wilmington. Those three teams are the only ones under par as Johnson & Wales is in fourth at 8-over 568 with Harvard rounding out the top five at 9-over 569.

Redshirt-sophomore Drew Ernst and true freshman Anders Larson led the Chanticleers each with a 1-under 139. Senior Sam Lyons is next in a tie for 11th at 1-over 141, with senior Dan Obremski and redshirt-freshman Daily Young rounding out the scoring at 2-over 142. The Chants posted four under-par rounds of the eight counted , including Ernst and Lyons each shooting 2-under 68 in the second round.

The Chanticleers will play the final round with Towson and UNC Wilmington Sat., Sept. 19.
