NINETY-SIX, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina University men's golf team fired a 2-under opening round and lead by five shots after the first round of the 2010 Big South Conference Championship, April 19. The Championship is being contested at The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor (Par 72 - 7,079 yards) in Ninety-Six, S.C.
Coastal shot a 2-under 286 in the opening round to open a five-shot lead over Winthrop in second at 291. High Point is currently third at 297, with Radford and Charleston Southern tied for fourth at 298.
Senior Dan Obremski tied his career best with a 5-under 67 in the opening round, including six birdies on the day, and is currently second, two shots behind Presbyterian's Matt Sizemore at 65. Senior Sam Lyons was next for Coastal with a 1-under 71 in a tie for sixth, while redshirt-sophomore Drew Ernst is tied for ninth at 1-over 73. Freshmen Sebastian Soderberg (75) and Charlie Winegardner (76) are tied for 12th and 20th, respectively.
The Chanticleers will be paired with Winthrop and High Point, starting the final wave of the second round off No. 1 tee at 9:40 a.m.
