    PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FLA. --  Coastal Carolina University's men's golf team improved its second round score by more than 10 shots but dropped into a tie for 11th after 36 holes of the 2010 John Hayt Collegiate Invitational, March 1. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being played at Sawgrass Country Club  (Par 72 - 6,955 yards) in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

    Coastal shot a 296 in the second round, an 11-shot improvement from the first day, and is at 27-over 603, tied with No. 4 Florida. Host and No. 27 North Florida leads the event at 6-over 582, three shots ahead of No. 30 Duke. Furman is third at 17-over 593, with UCF, Tulsa and Georgia Southern tied for fourth at 20-over 596.

    The Chants were led by senior Dan Obremski, who shot the best second round in the field with a 5-under 67 and moved into a tie for third at 2-under 142 with Sean Dale of North Florida and Georgia Southern's Florian Sander.  Freshman Sebastian Soderberg is next at 9-over 153, tied for 40th, with redshirt-sophomore Drew Ernst in a tie for 47th at 10-over 154. Senior Sam Lyons is next, tied for 56th at 11-over 155, with freshman Charlie Winegardner rounding out the team at 13-over 157, tied for 66th. Redshirt-freshman Daily Young, playing as an individual, is tied for 56th at 11-over 155. Opening-round leader Joe Byun of North Florida holds on to the lead through 36 holes with a 6-under 138, three shots ahead of Furman's Austin Reeves at 3-under 141.

    The Chanticleers are back on course for the final round tomorrow, March 2, starting on the 10th tee at 9:21 with playing partners No. 25 Tennessee and  No. 4 Florida.
