Men's Golf Play Halted at San Diego Due to Darkness

SAN DIEGO, Calilf. - Coastal Carolina squared off versus seven top 50 teams, including four in the top 10, Monday at the San Diego Intercollegiate. The 15-team field completed 18 holes, but had its second round play suspended due to darkness.

The teams will complete the second round Tuesday morning and play a final 18 holes to determine the team and individual medalists.

Fifth-ranked Washington led after the first round with a score of 284. Ninth-ranked Southern California was second (288), followed by San Diego, #48 Tennessee, #3 UCLA, #23 San Diego State, Lamar, #4 Stanford and #47 Augusta State. Coastal Carolina was tied for 12th with an 18-hole score of 310, matching Arizona State's score.

Sebastian Soderberg and Peter Valasek were both four over par after 18 holes, while Soderberg was two over with four holes left to play in round two. Charlie Winegardner, who was seven over par in round one, was three over with three holes left in round two.
